Principal's Message

Mr. Eddie Cuevas

Dear El Monte High School Family,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! It is both an honor and a profoundly personal privilege to serve as the Principal of El Monte High School, not only because of our school’s rich tradition of excellence, but also because I am a proud graduate of this incredible school. El Monte High shaped who I am, and I am committed to ensuring that every student who walks through our gates has the same opportunity to grow, succeed, and thrive.

Since our founding in 1901, El Monte High School has been a pillar of pride, tradition, and achievement in our community. That legacy continues today. Over the past year, our students have made significant academic progress, with measurable growth in CAASPP English Language Arts and Math scores. We are also proud of the expanding success in our Advanced Placement (AP) program, where more students are not only taking on rigorous coursework but passing AP exams at record levels. These achievements are a testament to the resilience of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the unwavering support of our families.

As we celebrate our academic momentum, we also acknowledge that a comprehensive high school experience extends beyond the classroom. That is why I encourage every student to Find Your Roar in Lion Country, to explore their passions, build connections, and step into leadership by getting involved in clubs, athletics, the arts, and service opportunities. At El Monte High, there is something for everyone, and we are here to support you in finding what inspires you.

Let us honor our past by continuing to rise together, academically, socially, and personally. I look forward to a school year filled with growth, opportunity, and Lion pride.

Sincerely,

Eddie Cuevas
